2012 Women's Tennis Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - For the first time in school history the Farmingdale State women's tennis team reached the Skyline Conference Finals held at top-seeded Mount Saint Mary College. The second-seeded Rams earned a 5-3 win over St. Joe's in the semifinals but fell 5-0 in the championship match at Mount Saint Mary.

Sophomore's Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Alex Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) each earned First Team All-Conference honors this season. Sickles, the #1 singles player for Farmingdale State, posted an impressive 9-4 record. She teamed with Bentz in doubles and the pair had an 8-4 record in the number one slot. Bentz was 8-4 on the year in the second singles position.

Senior Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y.) split time between #3 and #4 singles and had an overall record of 8-5. Freshman Denise Liguori (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was an even 6-6 at singles, playing her first season of collegiate tennis.

Head Coach Adam Waterhouse was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year.

The Rams will be graduating two seniors this year.
