Farmingdale State - 5, St. Joseph's - 4
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team edged Skyline opponent St. Joseph's 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams (6-2) remain undefeated 3-0 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles (5-3) drop to 1-2 in Skyline play.
Farmingdale held the 2-1 advantage after the doubles competition, with 9-8 wins from sophomores Alex Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Jessica Sickles (Massapequa, N.Y.) at #1 doubles, and senior Vanessa Josma (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Amanda Vecchio (Shirley, N.Y.) at #3 doubles.
In singles play, Sickles posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the #1 spot, while senior Laura Earlie took a 6-2, 6-0 win at #3 and Josma took a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win at #5.
The Rams now host Mount Saint Mary College in another Skyline match on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m.
