Albany, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team earned a 5-4 victory in a road match at Sage on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improved to 5-2 on the season with a 2-0 record in the Skyline Conference, while the Gators are 6-3 overall, 1-1 in conference play.
Farmingdale State sophomore Alex Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) defeated senior Mackenzie Riley (Albany, N.Y.) 6-4, 6-2 in second singles, while senior Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y.) earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory over senior Christina Kroder (Catskill, N.Y.) at #4 singles. The Rams picked up their third point in singles play as senior Vanessa Josma (Massapequa, N.Y.) notched a 6-1, 6-3 win against sophomore Lauren Bendall (Rome, N.Y.) at sixth singles.
In doubles play, Bentz and sophomore Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) teamed together for an 8-3 win in the #1 slot, while Josma and sophomore Amanda Vecchio (Shirley, N.Y.) earned an 8-3 victory at third doubles for Farmingdale State.
The Rams next will host St. Joseph's in a Skyline Conference match on Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
