Rams Defeat Staten Island for Non-Conference Win

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season after earning a 5-4 victory over The College of Staten Island in a non-conference match.

Freshman Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) led the Rams as a she earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at first singles. Freshman Alexandra Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and junior Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y.) were winners in both second and fifth singles, respectively.

In doubles competition, Bentz and freshman Liliya Dyakiv (Shirley, N.Y.) paired up to earn an 8-2 victory at second doubles, while Earlie and freshman Amanda Vecchio (Shirley, N.Y.) caputed an 8-4 win at #3 doubles.

The Rams next will travel to the Binghamton Racquet Club to face Skyline Opponent Yeshiva University on Wednesday, September 14th at 8:00 p.m.
