Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team earned their first win of the season with a 6-3 non-conference victory over John Jay. The Rams now stand at 1-2, while John Jay drops to 1-4 overall.

Farmingdale State swept the doubles competition, led by Vanessa Josma (Massapequa, N.Y./Amityville Memorial) and Jamie Pendergast's 8-5 win at first doubles. Regina Cane (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y./William Floyd) notched a 8-3 win at second doubles and the tandem of Simonette Clarke (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville) and Nairobi de la Cruz earned a 9-8 victory, giving the Rams a 3-0 advantage heading into the singles matches.

Pendergast defeated Lauren Mallon (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Savioiur) of John Jay 6-0, 6-2 at third singles and Earlie earned the win over Jessina Eng (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) by the same margin. Clarke was victorious over Katherine Seo (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 at fifth singles.

Farmingdale State will travel to Bard for a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday, September 18th at 1:00 p.m.
