2009 Women's Tennis Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team finished the 2009 season with a 5-6 overall record, including 3-5 in the Skyline Conference. The Rams entered the playoffs as the #6 seed and fell to St. Joseph's 5-2 in the quarterfinal round.

The Rams were led by senior Oshea Davis (Hempstead, N.Y.) who was named First Team All-Conference for the third consecutive season.  At first singles, she posted a 7-2 record, while also posting an 8-1 record at first doubles, including 7-1 in Skyline play.

Senior Kate McEntee (Greenwich, Conn.) teamed with Davis at first doubles, as they allowed only two losses over the previous two seasons. Junior Jessica Gentile (Dix Hills, N.Y.) finished with a 6-2 record, alternating between second and third singles, with a 5-3 record in doubles play. Freshman Regina Cane (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished the year 5-5 at second doubles in her first season at Farmingdale.

The Rams are returning five of nine players next year and will attempt to make the Skyline Conference playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
