PURCHASE, N.Y. | A five-point effort by junior midfielder Megan Diamond (Dix Hills, N.Y.), a total of 12 saves in net by senior netminder Ronnie Reilly (Oceanside, N.Y.) and a combined six caused turnovers in the riding game by seniors Ashley Codispoti (Patchogue, N.Y.) and Marina Zumbrunn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), helped lead the Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team to a 13-4, Skyline Conference victory in its regular-season finale at Manhattanville College.

With the win, head coach Erin Calkins's Rams (7-9, 5-3 Skyline) locked up the No. 3 seed in next week's six-team 2023 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship. FSC, which finished in a three-way tie for third with the Valiants (12-4, 5-3) and St. Joseph's-Long Island and earned the third seed by defeating both sides, will play host to a first-round contest Tuesday against the No. 6 seed. The opponent and time of the contest will be determined later this weekend, and further details will follow on FarmingdaleSports.com.

Diamond (four draw controls) led all players with four goals and dished out one assist, with senior attacker Athena Vogiatzis (Holtsville, N.Y.) chipping in with a hat trick. Codispoti filled the stat sheet with two goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the midfield, while Zumbrunn added a goal, three ground balls and as many takeaways from her attacker position. Junior Anna Hughes (Bethpage, N.Y.) dished out a game-high four assists, with sophomore Molly Espey (W. Hempstead, N.Y.; 2 g) and junior Nicole Pontecorvo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.; 1 g, 1 a) adding two points apiece. Freshman midfielder Kailee Coppola (Levittown, N.Y.) tied a season-high with five ground balls and controlled three draws for the Rams, whose defense limited the hosts to a 10-of-20 clearing rate in transition, while Manhattanville went 1-for-11 in free-position shots against Reilly.

FSC scored all five goals of the first period, with Diamond (twice), Zumbrunn, Codispoti and Vogiatzis ripping the rope during that span. The Valiants lifted the lid on their scoring 1:54 into a second frame in which the teams scored three times apiece, with the visitors carrying an 8-3 lead into halftime.

After the two sides swapped one goal each in the first 79 seconds of the second half, the Rams kept the home side off the scoreboard for the final 28:41 of action to lock up the victory.
