Balanced Attack Powers FSC Past Sage

Troy, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored five times, while seven other players added goals as Farmingdale State earned a 20-7 victory at Sage this afternoon. The FSC women's lacrosse team improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the Skyline and the Gators fell to 6-7, 3-3.

Senior attack Megan Sullivan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) opened the scoring with 24:56 remaining and senior midfielder Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) followed with a free-position goal 41 seconds later to put Farmingdale State ahead, 2-0.

Leading 3-1 with 19:59 left in the first, freshman midfielder Victoria Varone (Commack, N.Y.) converted the feed from Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) to increase the advantage to three. Over the final 12:43 of the half, FSC added goals by Rosino (2), Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) (2), Sullivan and Gendels to take a 10-1 lead into the break.

The Rams held an 11-2 advantage early in the second, before back-to-back Sage goals by junior attack Torri Sperl (Saugerties, N.Y.) cut the deficit to 11-4. Rosino, Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Sparrow quickly answered with scores to put FSC on top, 14-4, with 18:21 left to play.

Farmingdale State held a 16-6 edge with 10 minutes remaining and outscored the Gators 4-1 the remainder of the game for the 20-7 victory.

To go along with her game-high five goals, Rosino had five draw controls and caused four turnovers, while Keller and Sparrow each had four goals and one assist. Varone scored once and recorded a game-high 11 draw controls for FSC.

Three different players had two goals in the loss for Sage.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, April 25th at 3:00 p.m.
