Rams Remain Perfect in Skyline with Win at Maritime

Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team improved to 5-0 in the Skyline Conference and 12-1 overall after today's 20-3 win at Maritime.

The Rams started fast and used goals by Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.), Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) and Mia Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) over the first 3:14 of the game to take a 3-0 advantage. After an unassisted score by Megan Sullivan (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Rosino and Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) followed with goals to increase the FSC lead to 6-0.

Farmingdale State led 8-1 with 6:09 left to play in the first half and tallied three unanswered goals from Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.), Jessica Romero (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Victoria Varone (Commack, N.Y.) to go in front, 11-1.

Junior midfielder Samantha Morra (Levittown, N.Y.) and Keller scored the final two goals of the half as the Rams took a 13-1 lead into the break.

Maritime's (1-9, 1-5) Ciara Murphy (Pearl River, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the second before Farmingdale State answered with goals by Keller, Morra, Rosino and Sparrow to take a 17-2 advantage with 21:13 left to play.

Over the final 15:33, the Rams outscored the Privateers, 3-1, to earn the 20-3 victory.

Rosino led the way with three goals, four assists and 10 draw controls, while Sanchez tallied a game-high eight points on two goals and six assists. 12 different players scored at least one goal in the victory for Farmingdale State.

Murphy finished the afternoon with all three of Maritime's goals.

The Rams next will travel to Sage for a conference game tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
