Coach Chris Mooney and the Rams softball team finished the year 11-14 overall with a Skyline record of 7-9. Farmingdale had 10 newcomers to the team and showed promise for next season with such a young and talented group of players returning. Freshman pitcher and second basemen Lauren Poplawski finished the year 5-9 on the mound with a 3.19 earned run average. In 74.2 innings pitched, she struck out 49 batters and held the opposition to a .304 batting average. She pitched 11 complete games and had two shutouts, with just 11 walked batters...

The All-Skyline Women's Softball team was announced on Tuesday, May 8th and one Farmingdale player received All-Conference recognition. Freshman pitcher Lauren Poplawski (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) was named Second Team All-Skyline after finishing the season with a 5-9 record. Poplawski was a starting pitcher for the Rams with 14 appearces and 11 complete games. She held batters to a .304 average and finished the year with a 3.19 ERA, while striking out 49 batters and walking only 11 in 74.2 innings pitched. Described by Coach Mooney as "the best defensive player at any position", Lauren saw 15 games at second base during the season...

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State softball team improved to 11-12, 7-7 in the Skyline with a doubleheader sweep against Mount Saint Vincent (10-12, 4-10) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams shutout the Dolphins 2-0 in both games for the conference wins. In game one, Farmingdale pitcher Jaclyn Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) went 7 innings, struck out five and allowed just three hits in the shutout. The Rams scored both runs in the first. Freshman designated hitter Corinne Vinberg (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) led off with a bunt single to start. She then stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball, before freshman Kim Ferraiolo (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) knocked a sacrifice fly to left field to score Vinberg. Senior catcher Gina Moscato (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) ripped a homer over the left field fence for the Rams second run of the game and her third homerun of the season...

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville softball team captured their third straight Skyline Conference regular season title, sweeping the visiting Farmingdale State Rams 13-0 and 12-0. The Valiants win streak reached 14 with today's victories. Senior Michele Ribeiro (West Hartford, Conn.) led the Valiants with two homeruns, while senior pitcher Maggie Thomas (Malvern, Penn.) picked up the wins on the mound.

Farmingdale, NY - The Farmingdale State softball team (7-6, 3-1) split doubleheader against Skyline opponent Centenary College (7-7, 5-1) this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Both games were won in the 7th inning with the first going to Farmingdale in the bottom of the seventh, 7-6, and the second to Centenary in the top of the 7th, 9-5. Both teams were trailing by one run going into the last frame.

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team (6-3, 2-0 Skyline) won both games of a doubleheader against Skyline Conference opponent Maritime College (3-7, 0-4 Skyline) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams claimed victory quickly in the first game, 12-1. The second game was tied going into bottom of the second before freshman left fielder Kim Ferraiolo (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) singled to center fielder with two outs, scoring the winning run to make the score 8-7.

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team improved to 2-3 overall with a doubleheader sweep at Purchase College on Friday, March 23rd. The Rams took game one 9-4, before scoring 11 runs in the second game for the 11-3 victory. In the first game, Farmingdale scored six runs in the first inning on four walks, two hit batters and two singles and added three more runs to push forward for their first win of the season. Freshman Kimberly Corbett pitched a complete game, striking out nine batters and allowing just four hits and one earned run. The Skyline Conference released the Preseason Spring Coaches' Polls on Wednesday, March 7th. Men's Lacrosse received a fourth place ranking, while baseball was picked to finish fifth and softball and women's lacrosse hold a sixth place ranking. The polls will give the Rams something to focus on as they start their spring seasons, as many of the teams look to show the conference where they should really stand in the rankings. Spring reporting starts next week on Monday, March 12th when the Conference announces the Player and Rookie of the Week in each sport and also releases the overall statistics for the first time this season...
