Men's Tennis Now 3-0 in Skyline After Shutout Triumph at Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team moved its winning streak to four-consecutive matches Tuesday afternoon, and upped its record to 3-0 in Skyline Conference play with a 9-0 decision over host Mount Saint Mary College.

The visiting Rams (5-2) did not lose a game across the nine matches versus the Knights (0-3, 0-2 Skyline). The top-flight doubles tandem of senior Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Ryan Hendel (No. Merrick, N.Y.) swept past Matt Ropiak and J.T. Maccarrone, while senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) and junior Ethan Cintron (Bayside, N.Y.) dispatched Dylan Joslin and Owen Gallagher at No. 2. Sophomore Matthew Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and junior Ethan Cintron (Bayside, N.Y.) rounded out FSC's doubles sweep, earning an 8-0 victory against Jonathan and William Kara.

Baker (vs. Ropiak) and Hendel (vs. Maccarrone) led the 6-0 sweeps in singles play in the top-two flights, respectively, with senior Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) taking down Joslin at No. 3. Sophomore Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) toppled Gallagher in No. 4 action, with Durkin and senior Edward Kemp (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) earning the Nos. 5 and 6 decisions against Jonathan and William Kara, respectively.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Farmingdale State squad is back in action at home Thursday afternoon, when it welcomes Western Connecticut State University for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
