FSC Advances to Semifinals with Shutout Over #6 St. Joe's-LI

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The third-seeded Farmingdale State College men's tennis team defeated #6 St. Joseph's-Long Island, 5-0, this afternoon in the First Round of the Skyline Conference Championship.

The Rams (10-5) cruised to three wins in doubles competition. The top FSC pairing of Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) took an 8-0 decision before the #3 tandem of seniors Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.) and Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) won, 8-1.

Seniors Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) captured #2 doubles, 8-0, over Golden Eagles (3-10) William Vita (Bayport, N.Y.) and Jess Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.).

The Rams two points in singles play came from Baker and Everett.

Baker won #1 singles over Vita, 6-0, 6-0, while Everett took the fourth singles match, 6-0, 6-1.

The second, third, fifth and sixth matches remained unfinished with FSC ahead in each.

Farmingdale State has advanced to the Skyline Semifinals and will travel to play #2 Yeshiva at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. on Thursday, May 5th at 8:00 p.m.
