Men's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season With 7-2 Win vs. USMMA on Senior Day

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis wrapped up regular-season play Saturday afternoon with its sixth-straight victory, scoring a 7-2 decision in Skyline Conference play versus the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Prior to the match, head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams (9-5, 5-2 Skyline) played host to Senior Day ceremonies for three student-athletes -- Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.), Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Michael Josefak (Oakdale, N.Y.).

FSC took home all three doubles points, including an 8-0 blanking at the No. 2 flight by Everett and Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.). Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Pk., N.Y.) registered a top-flight, 8-4 triumph, while the No. 3 tandem of Contreras and Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) won by an 8-5 count.

Baker won his top-flight singles match by a 6-0, 6-2 score, while Sabovic bested his No. 2 opponent, 6-1 and 6-4. Everett used an 8-6 tiebreaker decision in the second frame to score a straight-sets victory at the No. 5 flight, with freshman Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) rounding out the Rams' scoring over the Mariners (4-6, 3-3) with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the No. 6 slot.

The Rams are locked into the No. 3 seed in next week's six-team Skyline Conference Championship, and will play host to the to-be-determined No. 6 seed next Tuesday (May 3) at a time to be determined. Check in with FarmingdaleSports.com following this weekend's action for further updates.
