FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team picked up three singles victories Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 2-1 deficit after doubles play, as visiting Manhattanville College secured a 5-4, Skyline Conference victory in a contest that was a rematch of the 2021 conference championship final.

The Valiants (6-5, 3-0 Skyline) earned a pair of decisions in doubles play, including an 8-7 (7-4) victory in top-flight action by Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H.) and Weston Goodwin (Freeport, Maine) over the Farmingdale State (3-4, 2-2) tandem of Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Pk., N.Y.). The Rams secured its point at the No. 2 flight, as seniors Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) took down Ryan Rosenberg (Frederick, Md.) and Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn.) by an 8-4 count.

Baker swept past Rosenberg in top-flight singles play by identical 6-0 scores, while Sabovic toppled Gonzalez at No. 2, 7-5 and 6-1. Everett outlasted Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y.) in the No. 5 spot by set scores of 6-2, 5-7 and 6-4.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Farmingdale State contingent is in action twice this weekend, playing host Friday (April 15) to New Jersey City University in a 4:30 p.m. non-conference tilt, before traveling Saturday to Sarah Lawrence College for a noon start.
