NJCU Blanks Rams in Non-Conference Match

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC men's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to New Jersey City this afternoon, 9-0. Farmingdale State dropped to 3-5 overall, while the Gothic Knights improved to 5-4.

At first doubles, senior Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) were defeated by NJCU sophomore Nico Teynie (Rouen, France) and senior Theo Bourghelle (Lesquin, France), 8-1, while the #3 pairing of freshmen Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Dylan Poblete-Infante (East Northport, N.Y.) fell, 8-0, to sophomores Alejandro Ley (Las Palmas, Spain) and Jordi Julia (Barcelona, Spain).

Farmingdale State seniors Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) lost second doubles in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-4), to New Jersey City junior Ryan Weiss (Mullica Hill, N.J.) and freshman Olaf de Lange (Maasland, Netherlands).

In singles play, the Rams dropped each of their matches: Teynie over Baker (6-2, Retired), Boughelle over Sabovic (6-0, 6-3), Lay over Ethan Cintron (Bayside, N.Y.) (6-1, 6-0), Julia over Everett (6-4, 6-0), Weiss over Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.) (6-0, 6-0) and de Lange over Poblete-Infante (6-0, 6-2).

Farmingdale State returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, April 16th when they travel to play Skyline opponent Sarah Lawrence (@ Purchase College) at noon
