Baker's Tiebreak Win Secures FSC's 5-4 Victory Over Baruch

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC men's tennis team opened their spring 2022 season with a home match against Baruch and earned a 5-4 victory. 

The Rams (1-2) took two of three points in doubles competition. After the Bearcats (2-3) won the top-flight doubles match, the #2 Farmingdale State pairing of seniors Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) picked up an 8-0 shutout victory.

At third doubles, freshmen Dylan Poblete-Infante (East Northport, N.Y.) and Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) won 8-5 over Baruch sophomore Hudson Kaylie (Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) and freshman Philip Dwan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to give FSC a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

Farmingdale State fell in the #3 singles match before Everett captured fourth singles, 8-1.

The Bearcats took the #2 and #6 slots by the same score of 8-5, but Rams' senior Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.) earned an 8-5 win in the fifth position as the match was knotted at 4-4.

In the #1 singles match, Baker earned a tie-breaking, 8-7 (7-5), victory over Baruch sophomore Abhinav Srivastava (Melville, N.Y.) to clinch the 5-4 non-conference win for FSC.

Farmingdale State will next open their Skyline schedule with a match at St. Joseph's-Long Island tomorrow, Saturday, April 2nd at 12:00 p.m.
