New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference's six head men's tennis coaches have voted for the 2021 all-conference team, and Farmingdale State senior Zachary Baker (Carmel, N.Y.) has been named the Player of the Year.
Along with Z. Baker, sophomore Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) also earned a spot on the First Team. Junior Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) and freshman Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Conference, while Head Coach Adam Waterhouse was tabbed the Coach of the Year. In addition, junior Colby Rodriguez (Huntington Station, N.Y.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Z. Baker, the #1 singles and doubles player, posted a 6-1 mark in singles and a 6-2 record in doubles. He only lost one Skyline Conference match in both singles and doubles. Z. Baker ranked second in the conference for regular season first singles victories.
M. Baker was a perfect 7-0 in singles as the #2 player on FSC. In doubles, M. Baker was 5-2 in the #1 slot. He was the Skyline Conference leader for regular season #2 singles wins.
Everett went 7-0 in singles matches this season with five #6 singles wins and one win apiece in the third and fifth spots. Everett also picked up three wins in doubles competition.
Sabovic earned four #2 doubles wins and three #3 singles victories in his first collegiate season.
Waterhouse just wrapped up his 14th season coaching both the Rams' tennis programs, and guided both to Skyline crowns this spring. The Oswego State alumnus owns a 106-64 record in men's dual-match play, along with a 134-64 mark on the women's side. Prior to this spring, Waterhouse garnered eight Coach of the Year citations combined from his Skyline Conference peers: 2008-09 (men), 2010-11 (men), 2011-12 (men), 2012-13 (women & men), 2015-16 (women), 2018-19 (men), and 2019-20 (women).
