Rams Earn Road Win at Merchant Marine

Farmingdale State - 8, Merchant Marine - 1


Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team traveled to Merchant Marine for a Skyline Conference match today and earned an 8-1 win.

The Rams (3-1) claimed all three points in doubles competition. In the #1 slot, the pairing of senior Zachary Baker (Carmel, N.Y.) and sophomore Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) recorded an 8-6 win. At #2 doubles, freshman Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and sophomore Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) notched an 8-2 victory, while sophomore Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.) and junior Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) tallied an 8-3 win in the third position.

Z. Baker (6-1, 6-3 - #1 singles), M. Baker (5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-2) - #2 singles), Sabovic (6-2, 6-0 - #3 singles), junior Colby Rodriguez (Huntington Station, N.Y.) (6-1, 6-4 - #5 singles) and Everett (6-0, 6-0 - #6 singles) all picked up victories for Farmingdale State.

The Rams return to action tomorrow (Sunday, May 2nd) when they host Yeshiva in a conference match at 1:00 p.m.
