Rams Blank St. Joseph's-LI in Season Opening Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 9-0 home victory over Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island this afternoon.

In doubles competition, FSC's (1-0) Zachary Baker (Carmel, N.Y.) and Ethan Cintron (Oakland Gardens, N.Y.) earned an 8-1 win in the #1 position, while the pairing of Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) notched an 8-0 victory in the #2 slot. At third doubles, Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.) and Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) recorded an 8-0 win to round out the sweep.

In singles play, Z. Baker (6-0, 6-1), Sabovic (2-1, forfeit), Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) (6-0, 6-0), Waterhouse (6-0, 6-0), Everett (6-1, 6-0) and Colby Rodriguez (Huntington Station, N.Y.) (6-0, 6-0) all carded victories for the Rams.

Farmingdale State next will host Yeshiva on Sunday, April 11th at 1:00 p.m.
