
New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team was selected to finish second in the Skyline Conference in voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches.
Coming off its first-ever Skyline championship season and NCAA appearance, Yeshiva has been selected to defend its Skyline Title. The Maccabees earned five first-place votes and 35 overall points, while Farmingdale State finished second in the voting with 29 total points.
FSC welcomes back a pair of All-Conference returnees in sophomore Tyler Danzy (Central Islip, N.Y.) and junior Kevin Palacios (Glen Cove, N.Y.). Danzy, the 2014 Skyline Rookie of the Year, posted a 9-3 record at the #1 singles position, while Palacios recorded six wins in singles competition and five victories in doubles action.
Joining the Rams this season are sophomore Chris Hunter (Melville, N.Y.) who transfered from MIT where he played one year and junior Dan Baruch (East Meadow, N.Y.) who played two seasons at Nassau CC.
Daniel Kafka (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), a freshman, hits the ball very hard will compete for a starting position, while freshman Patrick Madigan (Sayville, N.Y.) has had a strong preseason and hopes to crack the starting lineup.
Karuppiah Karuppiah (Trichy, India) and Aravind Mahalingam (Hyderabad, India) are both transfer students from India and have been impressive in preseason practices and hope to make the starting rotation. Freshman Joseph Drago (Bronx, N.Y.) had a strong fall season and hopes to be a starter this spring.
Last season Farmingdale State finished the year with a 7-6 overall record (4-2 Skyline). The Rams earned the #3 seed for the playoffs and fell to #2 Yeshiva in the semifinals.
