2013 Men's Tennis Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's tennis team won their third straight Skyline Championship after defeating Mount Saint Mary in the finals. The Rams traveled to Middlebury College where they fell, 5-2, in the first round of the NCAA National Tournament against Drew University.

Sophomore Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) posted an 8-2 record in #1 singles and paired up with senior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and the two recorded an 8-5 mark in first doubles. Musalo was 7-4 in the #2 singles position, while senior Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was an impressive 12-2 in singles, including a perfect 6-0 in Skyline matches. Junior Bradley Smith (Mineola, N.Y.) was 10-1 in singles and junior Judd Bahoui (Long Beach, N.Y.) was 10-2 on the year.

Vijungco, Bessarabov, Smith and Bahoui were all undefeated in singles conference matches this year.

Vijungco was named Skyline Player of the Year, Bessarabov and Musalo each earned First Team All-Conference honors, while junior Steven Ferrantello (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team.

The Rams graduated three seniors this season.
