2010 Men's Tennis Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men’s tennis team finished the season with an 8-5 overall record. The Rams held a 6-1 record in the Skyline Conference and earned the number two seed for the playoffs. Farmingdale State was defeated at home in the semifinal round against NYU-Poly.

The Rams were led by junior MVP Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y./Holy Cross) who earned five wins at number one singles. Passarella teamed with sophomore Theo Gioles (Wantagh, N.Y./Seaford) as they posted a 7-5 record at first doubles.

Freshman Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) recorded an 8-4 overall record and was 6-1 in the Skyline Conference playing second singles, while junior Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) was 8-3 at number four singles. The two had a team-best 9-3 record in doubles competition.

Senior Joe Hotzak (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) finished the season with a 10-2 record at fifth singles and freshman Adrian Summerlin (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) had an impressive 10-1 record in singles.

Farmingdale State is graduating two seniors as they return the core of their team for next season.
