Parkinson Scores Twice in Senior Day Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State senior forward Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) scored both goals for the Rams as the FSC men's soccer team earned a 2-1 Skyline Conference victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon.

Seniors Andrew Ingargiola (Fort Salonga, N.Y.), Chris Gyedu (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Parkinson and Flynn Shanahan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) were each honored prior to the game for senior day.

Mount Saint Vincent (6-11-1, 5-5) recorded the only goal of the first half in the 23rd minute as junior midfielder Andrew Gomez (Sun City, Calif.) scored on a free kick from 20 yards out.

With 30:10 remaining, the Rams (8-7, 7-3) evened the score at 1-1 as Parkinson scored on a sliding kick attempt off the cross from Wilson Martinez (Huntington Station, N.Y.). Parkinson tallied his second score of the afternoon only 5:27 later off John Kender's (Farmingdale, N.Y.) pass to put FSC ahead, 2-1.

In the 77th minute, a diving save by FSC junior goalkeeper Jeff Valencia (Levittown, N.Y.) on Gomez's free kick kept the Rams on top, 2-1. Farmingdale State held the Dolphins scoreless the remainder of the way en route to the 2-1 win.

Valencia finished the afternoon with four saves.

Farmingdale State next will close out the regular season with a home game against St. Joseph's-LI on Wednesday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m.
