Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team earned their first victory of the season after a 1-0 double overtime win over non-conference opponent Medgar Evers on Saturday afternoon.
In a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, the Rams outshot the Cougars (0-1) 18-5 overall, including 8-3 in shots on goal.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Farmingdale State sophomore forward Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) tallied the game-winner off the pass from Flynn Shanahan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) with only 1:47 left to play in double overtime. Parkinson's score led the Rams to the 1-0 victory and evened their record at 1-1 on the season.
FSC junior goalkeeper Robert Tucker (Oceanside, N.Y.), who played the final 63:13, tallied two saves, while Kevin Ngwolo (Kinshasa, Republic Democratic of Congo) had seven saves for Medgar Evers.
The Rams next will play host to Brooklyn College in a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 7th at 4:00 p.m.
