
Rams Win Third Straight with Shutout of Purchase

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer
team shutout Purchase College, 3-0, this afternoon in Farmingdale,
N.Y. The Rams won their third consecutive game and improved to 4-8
overall, 2-2 in the Skyline Conference. The Panthers dropped to
1-7-1, 0-3 in conference play after today's loss.
Farmingdale State struck first as senior Mathew Arthurs* (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) scored on a header off a corner kick by sophomore Brian Anderson (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) 29:45 into the contest. The Rams controlled much of the first half as they held a 13-2 shot advantage.
In the second half, freshman forward Rafal Jurkowski (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) scored an unassisted goal at the 54:17 mark, increasing Farmingdale State's lead to 2-0. Anderson netted the game clincher with five minutes remaining from 10 yards out. Freshman defender Joe Lipsky (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview-Old Bethpage) assisted the games final goal, as the Rams earned a 3-0 shutout victory.
Junior goalkeeper Ricky Meschkow (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview-Old Bethpage) had three saves for the Rams, while senior goalie David Kurzweil (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) stopped 14 shots in the loss for the Panthers.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 2nd at 1:30 p.m.
