Gilbride Tallies Eight Points as Men's Lacrosse Earns Sixth Straight Victory

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent Sage, 22-5, this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. to earn their sixth straight victory. Senior midfielder Jack Gilbride (East Moriches, N.Y.) led the way with a game and season-high eight points on six goals and two assists. FSC improved to 6-1, while the Gators dropped to 3-6 overall.

The Rams commanded the first quarter, scoring eight unanswered goals, including four by Gilbride and two by senior attack Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.).

Leading 10-1 in the second, Gilbride registered his fifth goal to put FSC on top by 10.

Farmingdale State outscored Sage 3-1 to close the quarter behind goals from junior midfielder Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Connor Murtha (Moriches, N.Y.) and senior attack Rob Varello (Smithtown, N.Y.).

Wandle opened the third quarter with a man-up score before Murtha set up junior attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) for a goal to give the Rams a 15-2 lead.

FSC held a 16-5 advantage and used three consecutive man-up scores by Varello, Stock and Wandle. Freshman attack JP Boreshesky (Nesconset, N.Y.), senior midfielder John Carnevale (East Meadow, N.Y.) and freshman defender Liam McGroarty (Northport, N.Y.) netted goals in the final minutes to account for the 22-5 final score.

Along with Gilbride's eight-point day, Stock recorded three goals and three assists for six points. Wandle finished with four goals, while Varello and Kolano produced two goals and one assist apiece. Senior midfielder Johnny McMahon (Albertson, N.Y.) registered one goal, three assists, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) went 20-for-24 on faceoffs with a season-best 16 ground balls in the win.

Farmingdale State next will play host to non-conference opponent Western Connecticut on Wednesday, March 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
