DAVENPORT, FL | The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team opened their spring break trip in Florida with a 13-9 victory over Lasell University.

After each team registered a goal to open the game, FSC (4-1) scored five consecutive times to close the first quarter with junior attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) involved in four of them.

Stock first set up sophomore midfielder Tyler Kollar (Bellport, N.Y.) before scoring his first on a James Hickis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) pass to give Farmingdale State a 3-1 lead. Stock then assisted on a goal by freshman midfielder Connor Murtha (Moriches, N.Y.) as the Rams went up by three.

Following a score by senior midfielder Johnny McMahon (Albertson, N.Y.), senior midfielder Jack Gilbride (East Moriches, N.Y.) set up Stock for FSC's sixth goal.

Gilbride and McMahon scored in a low-scoring second quarter as Farmingdale State led 8-2 at the halftime break.

The Rams opened the third quarter with a goal by senior attack Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.), from freshman attacker JP Boreshesky (Nesconset, N.Y.), but the Lasers (1-4) answered with three unanswered scores to cut their deficit to 9-5 heading into the fourth.

In the fourth, a Lasell turnover led to a goal by FSC sophomore midfielder Steven DiCarlo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) to regain a five-goal edge at 10-5.

After the Rams lost the ensuing faceoff on a violation, Lasell immediately threw a wild pass and turned the ball over. Senior defender Nick Bucholz (Holbrook, N.Y.) picked up the ball and passed it to sophomore goalkeeper Dan Erler (Smithtown, N.Y.) for the clear attempt. For the second time this season, Erler recognized the 10-man-ride defense and fired it 60 yards into the empty net for a goal.

Despite four scores by the Lasers down the stretch, FSC went on for the 13-9 non-conference victory.

Stock finished with five points, on two goals and three assists, while Gilbride recorded two goals and two assists for four points. Wandle tallied a hat trick and McMahon (2g), Hickis (2a), Boreshesky (2a) and DiCarlo (1g, 1a) each had two points apiece in the win.

Sophomore Christian Lembo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) led the defense with a career-best five caused turnovers and seven ground balls.

Erler stopped 11 shots and improved to 4-1 in net for the Rams.

The men's lacrosse team will play one more game on their Spring Trip when they take on Eastern Connecticut on Thursday, March 16th at noon in Davenport, Florida.
