Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Anna Maria

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team rolled to a 26-7 victory over non-conference opponent Anna Maria on Tuesday night to record their third straight win. The Rams improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Amcat's dropped to 1-4.

FSC registered nine goals in the first quarter as junior attacker Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) scored two goals in the first two minutes of play.

After senior midfielder Jack Gilbride (East Moriches, N.Y.) scored from classmate Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.), Stock tallied his third score, off the feed from freshman James Hickis (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

Sophomore midfielder Steven DiCarlo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted goal before Gilbride scored his second of the game to go up, 6-0.

Stock set up senior attack Rob Varello (Smithtown, N.Y.) for a pair of goals in the final 3:37 of the quarter to put Farmingdale State in front, 8-0. Varello assisted on FSC's ninth goal, setting up senior midfielder Johnny McMahon (Albertson, N.Y.).

In the second quarter, freshman midfielder Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.) produced a pair of goals, while Varello and Wandle had a man-up score each to take a 13-0 lead.

FSC held a 13-2 advantage at the halftime break and outscored the Amcats, 5-3, in the third quarter.

Leading 18-5, Kolano, sophomore midfielder Tyler Kollar (Bellport, N.Y.), Hickis and senior midfielder Trey Connolly (Seaford, N.Y.) each netted a goal to go up 22-5.

The Rams added four more goals down the stretch as they earned the 26-7 non-conference victory.

Varello led the way with a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists. Stock finished with three goals, three assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Wandle also registered three goals and three assists for six points. Freshman attacker JP Boreshesky (Nesconset, N.Y.) tallied three goals and one assist and Kolano had a hat trick with three goals in the game.

Gilbride produced a pair of goals and one assist, while Kollar, Hickis, Connolly, and senior midfielder John Carnevale (East Meadow, N.Y.) had one goal and one assist apiece.

McMahon, DiCarlo and senior midfielder Tyler Cardinali (Seaford, N.Y.) added a goal each in the victory.

The Rams next head on their annual spring break trip to Florida. Farmingdale State will play Lasell on Sunday, March 12th at 2:00 p.m. and Eastern Connecticut on Thursday, March 16th at noon at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla.
