Rams Close Out Regular Season With Victory on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 17-10 home victory over Manhattanville this afternoon. The Rams improved to 6-1 on the year, while the Valiants dropped to 1-4.

It was senior day at Farmingdale State and Corey McMahon (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.), Jacobe Nall (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Will DeCamp (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Matt Sullivan (Stony Brook, N.Y.), Anthony Maiello (Oakdale, N.Y.), Kyle Josefson (Holbrook, N.Y.), John Feiner (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Jack Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) were all honored prior to the game. 

The Rams started quickly as Haggerty scored the first three goals of the game. After a Manhattanville goal cut the deficit to 3-1, C. McMahon netted the pass from freshman midfielder Hunter Lyons (East Islip, N.Y.).

Leading 4-2 with 1:22 left to play in the first quarter, Haggerty tallied his fourth goal to bring the advantage back to three. Manhattanville junior attack Nick Cornelia (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) ended the quarter with his third goal of the day to pull the Valiants back within two, 5-3.

C. McMahon opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 7-3. After Manhattanville answered with two straight scores, Haggerty and J. McMahon followed with goals to give the Rams a 9-5 edge with 5:26 on the clock. Each team scored twice over the final minutes at Farmingdale State took an 11-7 lead into the break.

Haggerty registered nine first half points on seven goals two assists, while C. McMahon scored three times.

Less than a minute into the third, Sullivan sent home the Lyons pass to put the Rams up five. A goal by Cornelia brought the Valiants' deficit back to four but C. McMahon and sophomore attack Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) closed the quarter with goals to put FSC out in front, 14-8.

The Rams outscored Manhattanville 3-2 in the fourth en route to the 17-10 victory.

Haggerty scored a career-high seven goals and added three assists for 10 points. He leads the Skyline Conference in both goals scored (35) and points (50) this season. C. McMahon finished the day with six points on a career-high four goals and two assists, while J. McMahon had three goals and picked up three ground balls.

FSC goalies Kevin Loonie (Lynbrook, N.Y.) (W, 5-1) and DeCamp had six and four saves, respectively.

For Manhattanville, Cornelia led the way with a team-high six goals. 

Farmingdale State will host the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Playoffs which will be played on Wednesday, May 5th. Time and opponent is TBD.
