Farmingdale State Allows Just Three Goals in Road Win at CMSV

Farmingdale State - 20, Mount Saint Vincent - 3


Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team traveled to Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon and cruised to a 20-3 victory. FSC goaltenders Kevin Loonie (Lynbrook, N.Y.) (W, 3-1), Will DeCamp (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Ryan Ott (Riverhead, N.Y.) combined to hold the Dolphins to just three goals on the day. The Rams picked up 49 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers in the win.

Farmingdale State (4-1) opened the game with four straight unassisted goals by senior attack Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Hunter Lyons (East Islip, N.Y.) and senior midfielders John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Corey McMahon (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) to take a 4-0 advantage with 8:39 left in the first quarter.

Just 26 seconds later, Lyons set up sophomore midfielder Casey Romano (Bellport, N.Y.) for a goal as FSC took a 5-0 lead.

Leading 6-0 with 3:23 on the clock, freshman attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) tallied a goal before assisting on a Haggerty score to put Farmingdale State ahead, 8-0.

FSC took an 8-1 advantage into the second quarter and used unassisted goals from C McMahon and Haggerty to go up, 10-1.

With 6:47 left to play in the second, sophomore attack Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the game off the pass from junior midfielder Matt Sullivan (Stony Brook, N.Y.) as the Rams took a 10-goal lead.

Farmingdale State outscored the Dolphins (0-3), 4-0, over the final 5:38 to take a 15-1 advantage at the break. Stock, Haggerty, Lyons and J McMahon each scored.

FSC recorded three goals in the third quarter, by J McMahon, C McMahon and Wandle, and two in the fourth, by Sullivan, as they went on for the 20-3 victory.

Haggerty led the way with five goals and one assist for six points, while J McMahon and C McMahon had three goals and one assist each. Stock tallied two goals, three assists and a career-high seven ground balls and both Lyons and Sullivan recorded two goals and two assists.

On defense, junior Jack Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) registered three caused turnovers and two ground balls, sophomore Nick Bucholz (Holbrook, N.Y.) had two caused turnovers and a ground ball, freshman Gino Luchetti (Farmingville, N.Y.) notched one caused turnover and three ground balls, and freshman Joe Torres (Bayport, N.Y.) picked up two ground balls.

Freshman midfielder Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) controlled the faceoffs, winning 14-of-18 and picking up 12 ground balls.

Farmingdale State next will host Merchant Marine on Tuesday, April 27th at 7:00 p.m.
