Haggerty, Wandle Lead Rams Past Mount Saint Mary

Farmingdale State - 14, Mount Saint Mary - 3


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC men's lacrosse team picked up a 14-3 win against Mount Saint Mary College in Farmingdale, N.Y. this afternoon. Farmingdale State attackmen Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.) and Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) registered four goals and five assists, respectively, to lead the Rams to the victory. FSC (3-0) has now won nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Farmingdale State opened the scoring just 1:44 in as Wandle set up Haggerty for a goal.

Only 12 seconds later, Haggerty netted his second goal off the feed from junior midfielder John Feiner (Farmingdale, N.Y.) to put FSC on top, 2-0.

Still down by two with 5:30 left in the first quarter, the Knights (0-2) cut their deficit to just one after sophomore midfielder Mike Travers (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored.

The Rams would tally two goals in the final 1:27 as Wandle set up freshman attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) and Haggerty for goals to go in front, 4-1.

FSC led by three, 5-2, with 2:30 remaining in the first half before Wandle assisted on goals by senior midfielders John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Corey McMahon (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) to give Farmingdale State a 7-2 advantage at the break.

In the third quarter, the Rams outscored Mount Saint Mary, 4-0, to take a commanding 11-2 lead. J McMahon scored twice, while Stock and Wandle had one goal apiece.

Farmingdale State would register three goals in the fourth quarter as they went on for the 14-3 victory.

Haggerty finished with a game-high four goals, to go along with two assists and four ground balls. Haggerty also had 17 shots, a mark that ranks fourth all-time at FSC for a single-game. Wandle produced one goal and five assists for six points, while Stock recorded three goals, two assists, 11 shots and four ground balls. J McMahon added three goals and had a team-high six ground balls in the win.

Farmingdale State freshman goalie Kevin Loonie (Lynbrook, N.Y.) (W, 2-0) earned the win after stopping a career-high 10 shots in one half of play.

The Rams next head on the road to face conference opponent Maritime on Saturday, April 17th at noon.
