New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the spring weekly report #7 on Monday, April 8th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Tennis Update (4-2, 1-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's tennis team earned a trio of wins last week against St. Joseph's-L.I. (9-0), Western Connecticut State (7-2) and Hunter (8-1).

Freshman Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Baker was a perfect 3-0 at both #1 singles and #1 doubles on the week. Against the Golden Eagles, he recorded an 8-1 win at doubles and a 6-0, 6-0 singles victory. In the non-conference match versus Western Conn., Baker earned an 8-0 doubles win and a 6-3, 6-2 singles victory. In the final match of the week at Hunter, he cruised to an 8-1 win at doubles and won 6-0, 6-1 in singles play.

Sophomore Steven Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) earned a place on the Player of the Week honor roll after posting a 5-1 week (3-0 doubles, 2-1 singles).

This week the Rams are scheduled to play three road matches: Wednesday at Merchant Marine @ 4:30 p.m., Friday at Manhattanville @ 3:30 p.m., and Saturday at Purchase @ 10:00 a.m.

 

Baseball Update (20-5, 9-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The FSC baseball team increased their winning streak to 13 straight with an 8-0 week. Farmingdale State swept St. Joe's-L.I. with 7-3 and 4-2 wins on Monday. After picking up two non-conference wins versus Baruch (5-4) and Lehman (10-9), the Rams earned four straight conference wins against Mount Saint Mary (6-1, 2-0) and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (11-1, 10-1).

Senior Matthew Constantine (West Babylon, N.Y.) was tabbed the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week after picking up the win in all three games he appeared in. At St. Joe's-LI on Monday, Constantine went 4.1 innings in relief allowing just two hits and striking out three, before starting the second game and tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. He finished the week with a start in game one vs. St. Joe's-Brooklyn and threw 6.2 innings, struck out a season-high eight, and allowed just one run. Constantine held a 1.12 ERA in 16 innings pitched with 16 strikeouts.

Junior outfielder Vincent Rice (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll after hitting .409 (9-for-22) with three doubles, a homerun, six runs, four RBI's, and was 4-4 on stolen base attempts.

This week the Rams will play five games: Tuesday at #11 TCNJ @ 3:30 p.m., Saturday (DH) at Old Westbury @ noon and Sunday (DH) vs. Purchase @ noon.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (8-3, 2-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's lacrosse team picked up two conference victories last week versus St. Joseph's-L.I., 9-8, and Mount Saint Mary, 11-6.

Senior goalkeeper Dan Wood (East Meadow, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors. Wood recorded 21 saves and held a .600 save percentage in the 2-0 week for the Rams. In the 9-8 win over St. Joe's-LI, he stopped eight shots and in the 11-6 victory against MSMC, Wood stopped 13-of-19 shots on goal.

This week FSC plays two games: Wednesday vs. SUNY Delhi @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at Purchase @ noon.

 

Outdoor Track Update - Skyline Men's Full Report    Skyline Women's Full Report

The FSC outdoor track teams competed at the TCNJ Invitational in Ewing, N.J. last week.

Sophomore Denzel Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.) was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week and sophomore Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors. At the TCNJ Invitational, Green Wright placed fourth of 113 competitors in the 200m (22.39) and followed with an eighth place finish out of 90 in the 400m (50.92). He was also the first leg of the sixth place (44.81) 4x100m relay team. Magoulas placed fourth out of 22 in the hammer throw with a personal best toss of 42.38m (139'). Her mark in the hammer is the second best all-time throw at FSC. She also earned a ninth place finish in the discus (30.42 / 99' 10").

Junior Blake Borghard (Northport, N.Y.) earned a place on the Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor roll after placing third out of 35 in the discus (39.63m / 130'), ninth of 34 in the shot put (11.70m / 38' 4.75"), and 10th of 28 in the hammer (46.93m / 154').

This week, Farmingdale State will travel to Stockton College in Galloway, N.J. for the Osprey Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

 

Softball Update (10-12, 10-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Rams improved to 10-0 in conference play with two wins at both Mount Saint Vincent (13-2, 11-2) and Purchase (8-0, 6-5) last week.

Freshman second baseman Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) and sophomore pitcher Madeleine Smith (San Diego, Calif.) were both named to the honor roll. Prescia batted .583 (7-for-12) / .615 / .833 with three doubles, five runs and three runs batted in on the week. At CMSV, she recorded two hits (both doubles) and two RBI's and followed with a perfect 5-for-5 day at Purchase with four runs scored, an RBI, one double and a walk. In two appearances, Smith picked up a win and a save. In the 11-2 win over Mount Saint Vincent, she pitched a complete game (7 innings) allowing just one earned run and striking out four.

The softball team will play three doubleheaders this week: Tuesday vs. John Jay @ 3:30 p.m., Saturday vs. St. Joseph's-L.I. @ noon and Sunday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (@ St. John's University) @ noon.

 

Women's Lacrosse Update (2-10, 1-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The FSC women's lacrosse team went 1-1 in a pair of Skyline contests last week. Farmingdale State fell to Merchant Marine, 12-4, before rebounding against Mount Saint Mary with a 16-5 win.

Junior midfielder Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll. She scored a team-high seven goals on the week, picked up two ground balls, and caused a pair of turnovers.

This week the Rams will play two home conference games: Tuesday vs. Purchase @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. St. Joseph's-L.I. @ noon.

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team opened their spring season at the St. Joseph's-LI Invitational at Bellport Country Club last week and came in sixth place out of nine teams. Senior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) finished tied for third place out of 46 competitors with rounds of 78 and 77 for a two-day total of 155.
