Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season as they earned a 22-2 home victory over Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon.

Farmingdale State's Jake Borresen (East Meadow, N.Y.), Nick Capone (West Islip, N.Y.), Steven Diaz (Hicksville, N.Y.), Nick Perrone (Northport, N.Y.) and Frank Prevete (Selden, N.Y.) were each honored for senior day prior to the game.

In the first quarter, the Rams (10-7, 3-3) outscored Mount Saint Vincent (2-11, 0-6) 3-0 after junior midfielder Conor McAvoy (East Setauket, N.Y.) scored once and sophomore midfielder Dylan Fitzgerald (Farmingdale, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals.

Fitzgerald opened the second quarter with two straight goals over the first 2:02 of action to extend the FSC lead to 5-0. After the Dolphins scored their first goal of the game, Farmingdale State closed the quarter with eight unanswered and took a 13-1 advantage into the break. FSC won 14-of-16 faceoffs and held a 30-10 groundball advantage in the first half.

The Rams started the third quarter with scores from junior midfielder James Ragland (Seaford, N.Y.), freshman midfielder John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.), junior midfielder Kevin Kasprzak (Huntington, N.Y.), Borresen and sophomore midfielder Joe Watson (Brentwood, N.Y.) to go out in front, 18-1, with 6:44 on the clock. Farmingdale State outscored MSV 4-1 the remainder of the game as they earned the 22-2 victory. The Rams won 25-of-28 faceoffs and picked up 37 more ground balls than the Dolphins in their final game of the regular season.

Fitzgerald finished the day with a career-high five goals on six shots and added one assist, while Borresen totaled five points on two goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Christian Stalter (Miller Place, N.Y.) was 15-of-16 on faceoffs and picked up a game-high 10 ground balls and junior midfielder Doug Hellberg (Wantagh, N.Y.) won seven faceoffs in nine attempts. 

FSC has earned the #4 seed for the playoffs and will travel to #1 Merchant Marine (6-0) for the Skyline Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, May 2nd (the game time is currently TBA).
