- FSC has seven student-athletes garner Skyline Conference weekly awards -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the spring weekly report #8 on Monday, April 16th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Baseball Update (17-9, 9-3 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State went 4-1 last week, falling to non-conference opponent #17 TCNJ before sweeping both Yeshiva and St. Joseph's-L.I.

Senior David Otero Jr. (Shelton, Conn.) was named Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Otero Jr. started game one against St. Joseph's-LI and pitched 7.1 shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out a career-high 10 batters. He has now extended his scoreless streak to 16.2 innings.

This week the Rams are slated to play five games: Wednesday at Lehman @ 4:00 p.m., Saturday is senior day vs. Maritime (DH) @ noon and Sunday at Merchant Marine (DH) @ noon.

 

Outdoor Track Update - Skyline Full Report

FSC competed at the Osprey Invitational at Stockton College in Galloway, N.J. last week as the men's team posted a third place finish out of 31 teams.

Farmingdale State claimed three Skyline Conference outdoor track weekly awards. Senior Jyaire Ewa (Rochdale, N.Y.) was named Men's Field Athlete of the Week, junior Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) was tabbed Men's Track Athlete of the Week and freshman Marina Magoulas (Central Islip, N.Y.) earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.

At the Osprey Invitational, Ewa was runner-up in the hammer throw (52.21m), took 10th in the shot put (12.60m) and 14th in the discus (35.36). Sellitto recorded a fourth place finish out of 54 competitors in the 400m (50.93) and took fifth of 62 in the 200m (22.21). Sellitto is currently ranked ninth in the Region in the 200m. Magoulas placed fifth in the hammer (38.83m), seventh in the discus (31.25m) and 20th in the shot put (9.25m). Ewa and Magoulas received the awards for the second consecutive week.

This week the outdoor track teams will travel to Stony Brook University for the Wolfie Invitational on Saturday.

 

Softball Update (12-12, 8-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The softball team was undefeated (6-0) in conference play last week, posting doubleheader sweeps over Yeshiva, Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase.

Sophomore 2B/1B Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week, while freshman 2B/SS Amaris Negron (Central Islip, N.Y.) tallied Rookie of the Week honors. Junior pitcher Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) was also named to the Honor Roll for FSC.

Lombardo led the Rams in hits, doubles, RBI and total bases last week. In game one versus Yeshiva, she was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Lombardo went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and 3 RBI in game one against Purchase and followed by going 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI in game two. Negron batted a team-high .667 and recorded at least one hit in all four games played. In game one versus Yeshiva, Negron was 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored and 4 RBI. In the doubleheader against Purchase, she was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored in game one and went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored and 2 RBI in the second game. Collard was 3-0 and did not allow an earned run in three starts last week. In game two at Yeshiva, she pitched three perfect innings and had three strikeouts. In game one against Mount Saint Vincent, Collard threw a complete game shutout, allowing six hits and striking out one. She closed out the week in game one versus Purchase where she tossed a complete game, allowing no earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

Farmingdale State will play host to Stockton (DH) on Thursday @ 3:00 p.m., before traveling to St. Joseph's-L.I. (DH) on Saturday @ noon and closing out the week at home on Sunday vs. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (DH) @ noon.

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team finished in fourth place out of 15 teams at the Rosemont Raven Invitational this past weekend. Senior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) posted a two day total of 151 (72-79) and tied for second place individually.

This week the Rams will travel to Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, N.Y. for the Skidmore College Dr. Tim Brown Invitational on Saturday & Sunday.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (8-5, 2-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

FSC posted a victory over Delhi, 8-5, on Tuesday afternoon and then defeated Skyline opponent Purchase, 20-5, to close out a 2-0 week.

Junior midfielder Conor McAvoy (East Setauket, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after recording eight points on four goals and four assists.

This week the men's lacrosse team will travel to Skidmore on Tuesday @ 4:00 p.m. and host Maritime on Saturday @ 2:30 p.m.

 

Women's Lacrosse Update (3-8, 2-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State picked up two conference wins last week, defeating Mount Saint Mary, 19-9, before a 15-5 victory at Purchase.

Freshman Julia Tuohy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors. Tuohy was FSC's leading scorer with a 12-point week on five goals and seven assists. She scored three goals and had five assists at Mount Saint Mary and ended the week with a pair of goals and assists at Purchase.

This week the women's lacrosse team will travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. on Wednesday @ 5:30 p.m. and host Maritime on Saturday @ 12:00 p.m.

 

Men's Tennis Update (3-8, 3-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Rams played five matches last week and posted wins against St. Joseph's Brooklyn and Purchase.

The men's tennis team will play three matches this week: Tuesday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 6:00 p.m., Thursday at St. Joseph's-L.I. @ 5:30 p.m. and Friday vs. Brooklyn College @ 4:30 p.m.
