La Plume, Penn. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse traveled to La Plume, Pennsylvania for a non-conference game at Keystone College and won, 21-4.
Rams (6-4) freshman attack Connor Dalton (Hicksville, N.Y.) opened the scoring just 1:37 into the game off the feed from sophomore attack AJ Sandorfi (Lynbrook, N.Y.) to put FSC up 1-0. With 6:52 left in the first quarter, Farmingdale State scored four straight goals to take a 5-0 lead. Junior midfielder Conor McAvoy (East Setauket, N.Y.) scored twice, while Sandorfi and junior attack Shane Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.) had one goal each during the run.
Leading 6-0 after another McAvoy goal just over a minute into the second quarter, freshman midfielder John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Frederick Thomas IV (Inwood, N.Y.) scored only 57 seconds apart to give the Rams an 8-0 advantage. Over the final 4:53 of the half, McMahon scored a man-down goal from senior defender Nick Capone (West Islip, N.Y.), McAvoy tallied his fourth goal of the game from sophomore midfielder Dylan Fitzgerald (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and senior attack Jake Borresen (East Meadow, N.Y.) scored unassisted to put Farmingdale State up 11-0.
Leading 11-1 in the third quarter, the Rams used goals from McMahon, senior defender Nick Perrone (Northport, N.Y.), McAvoy, Fitzgerald, junior midfielder Kevin Kasprzak (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Steve King (West Babylon, N.Y.) to open up a 17-1 lead.
Sophomore attack Joe Roach (Hicksville, N.Y.) would score the final four goals of the game for the Rams as FSC won, 21-4. Farmingdale State won 24-of-29 faceoffs, held a 58-11 shot advantage and picked up a season-high 55 ground balls in the win.
McAvoy (5g), Sandorfi (1g, 4a) and Roach (4g, 1a) each finished with five points in the game, while Clark and Fitzgerald both recorded with one goal and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Christian Stalter (Miller Place, N.Y.), who was 12-for-15 on faceoffs, picked up a game-high seven ground balls for the Rams.
Farmingdale State junior goalkeeper Greg Palma (East Islip, N.Y.) (1-0) registered his first win of the season after holding Keystone (0-7) scoreless in one quarter of play.
The Rams next travel to Skyline Conference opponent Merchant Marine on Saturday, April 7th at noon.
