Oneonta Defense Shuts Down Rams in Non-Conference Game

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team played host to Oneonta this afternoon in a non-conference game and fell, 9-2. Sophomore attack AJ Sandorfi (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scored both of FSC's goals in the loss.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Red Dragons (2-1) took a 1-0 lead early in the second on an unassisted goal from junior attack Stephen Panno (Holtsville, N.Y.). With 2:39 remaining in the first half, a Hunter DeLuca (Medford, N.Y.) score off the feed from junior attack Michael Cegielski (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) put Oneonta on top, 2-0. Only 20 seconds later, a man-up goal by Cegielski gave Oneonta a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Over the opening 9:36 of the third quarter, the Red Dragons recorded a goal by Panno and a pair from junior attack Thomas Moore (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) to go out in front, 6-0. With 4:14 on the clock, Sandorfi tallied his first goal of the day but Panno answered with his third to bring the score to 7-1 heading into the fourth. Oneonta outscored Farmingdale State 2-1 in the final quarter to cap off the 9-2 victory.

FSC (2-2) sophomore midfielder Christian Stalter (Miller Place, N.Y.) was 8-for-13 on face-offs and had three ground balls, while senior defender Nick Capone (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded game-highs in both caused turnovers (3) and ground balls (5).

The Red Dragons were led by Panno and Moore who each scored a game-high three goals.

Farmingdale State next will host Hartwick for a non-conference game on Saturday, March 10th at noon.
