Skyline Conference Releases 2018 Spring Preseason Coaches Polls

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference has released the preseason coaches polls for the 2018 spring sports including women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, baseball, softball and men's tennis.

Women's Lacrosse

1. Farmingdale State (7), 49

2. St. Joseph's-L.I. (1), 41

3. Mount Saint Mary, 35

4. Old Westbury, 30

5. USMMA, 25

6. Purchase, 24

7. Maritime, 11

8. Mount Saint Vincent, 9

The women's lacrosse team has been selected to repeat as Skyline Conference Champions in 2018. Last season the Rams posted an 18-2 record and were a perfect 8-0 in conference play. Farmingdale State earned the #1 seed for the playoffs and defeated St. Joseph's-LI in the Skyline Championship.

The Rams open the 2018 season on Saturday, February 24th with a non-conference home game against Scranton at 1:00 p.m.

 

Men's Lacrosse

The men's lacrosse team was 12-6 last season, including 5-4 in the conference. The Rams defeated Kean in the first round of the playoffs before falling, 10-5, at Montclair State in the semifinals.

FSC opens the season with a home non-conference game against Mitchell on Saturday, February 24th at 3:30 p.m.

The baseball team was 21-15 overall last year and 13-5 in the conference. Farmingdale State entered the playoffs as the #3 seed and fell, 2-0, to Merchant Marine in the first round.

The Rams open the 2018 season with a non-conference home doubleheader against New Rochelle on Sunday, March 4th at noon.

 

Softball

Last season the softball team was 21-19, including 11-7 in the Skyline Conference. FSC entered the playoffs as the #4 seed and eventually lost to Sage in the Skyline Conference Championship game.

The men's tennis team posted an 8-10 record (4-4 Skyline) last year. The Rams went into the playoffs as the fifth-seed and were eliminated by Mount Saint Mary in the first round.

Farmingdale State opens the spring season with a non-conference road match on Wednesday, March 14th at York (NY) @ 4:00 p.m.
