Wieczorek Ties School Record in Skyline First Round Game

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) tied the school record with nine goals today, as the #4-seeded men's lacrosse team defeated #5 seed Kean University, 16-7. The Rams now stand at 12-5 overall, while the Cougars end the season 8-8.

Prior to the faceoff, Farmingdale State honored the life of one of New York City's Bravest, William Tolley, of Bethpage, who gave his life keeping the residents of our neighboring city and this great state safe. The Rams presented the family of firefighter Tolley with a check to benefit the William N. Tolley Children's Educational fund, 100% of donations made to the William N. Tolley's Children's Educational Fund will support Firefighter Tolley's daughter. To donate, please click on the link above.

Trailing 4-3 after the first, Farmingdale State's Wieczorek tied the game at 4-4 with a man-up goal just 32 seconds into the second quarter. Sophomore midfielder Mike Snellen (Glen Gardner, N.J.) put the Cougars up 5-4 two minutes later with an unassisted goal.

Wieczorek and senior midfielder Stephen White (Copiague, N.Y.) each scored two goals over the final nine minutes to give the Rams the 8-5 lead at the halftime break.

Farmingdale State outscored Kean 5-1 in the third and 3-1 in the fourth, en route to the First Round victory.

Wieczorek's nine goals was a game-high. Senior goalkeeper Brendan Schade (Holbrook, N.Y.) finished with 13 saves for the win. Freshman defender Justin Napolitano (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) tallied a team-high seven ground balls.

For Kean, senior attack Matt Brodley (Montvale, N.J.) totaled a team-high four goals, while sophomore midfielder Connor Baucom (Bloomsburg, N.J.) won 17-of-26 faceoffs and had a game-high eight ground balls.

FSC will now travel to top-seeded Montclair State for the Skyline Semifinals on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
