Rams Defeat Mount Saint Vincent in Regular Season Finale

Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 23-7 Skyline victory at Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon. The Rams currently sit in fourth place in the conference.

In a first quarter dominated by FSC (11-5, 5-4), the Rams used two goals by both Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Stephen White (Copiague, N.Y.) and one from Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) to go out in front, 5-0, less than six minutes in.

After a Nick LeBright (Levittown, N.Y.) score put FSC up 6-0, junior defender James Fitzgerald (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) tallied back-to-back goals to cut the Dolphins (2-11, 0-9) deficit to 6-2.

Leading 8-4 with 7:48 remaining, Curry and freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) each recorded unassisted goals to bring the Farmingdale State advantage back to six. Each team added one over the final 4:15 of the second as FSC took an 11-5 lead into halftime.

FSC sophomore midfielder James Ragland (Seaford, N.Y.) and Wieczorek each tallied a goal within the first minute of the third quarter to put the Rams on top, 13-5.

Farmingdale State held a 15-6 edge entering the fourth and netted the first six goals of the quarter to open up their largest lead of the game, 21-6, with 3:05 left to play. The Rams went on for the 23-7 conference road victory.

Curry led all scorers with five goals and two assists, while Wieczorek added three goals and one assist. Seven other FSC players recorded two goals in the win.

Fitzgerald finished the day with a team-high four points on two goals and a pair of assists and senior attack Michael Puchalski (Yorktown, N.Y.) netted a team-leading three goals.

The Rams will await their playoff seeding and opponent for the upcoming Skyline Conference Playoffs. The First Round will begin on Saturday, April 29th.
