Wieczorek Breaks School Record in Loss at Montclair State

Montclair, N.J. - Freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) scored four times and now has a school record 57 goals this season as the FSC men's lacrosse team fell, 15-7, at Montclair State on Wednesday night.

After the Red Hawks (7-6, 7-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead, FSC (10-5, 4-4) senior midfielder Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) tallied back-to-back unassisted goals to pull the Rams within one with 3:37 left in the first. With only seven seconds remaining in the quarter, Wieczorek tied the game at 3-3 after recording an unassisted goal.

In the second quarter, Montclair State outscored Farmingdale State 3-0 as they saw two goals by sophomore midfielder Dan Bellezza (Plainsboro, N.J.) and one from senior attack Don Finn (Wall, N.J.) to take a 6-3 advantage into halftime.

Trailing 7-4 with 7:12 left to play in the third, Wieczorek netted the pass from Curry to cut the FSC deficit to two. The Red Hawks closed the quarter with three consecutive goals, including two man-up scores, to extend the lead to 10-5.

Wieczorek opened the fourth with a man-up goal, before Montclair State tallied three unanswered scores to go ahead, 13-6. The Red Hawks outscored the Rams 2-1 over the final 4:38 for the 15-7 Skyline Conference victory.

Wieczorek scored a game-high four goals on four shots to break the previous single-season school record of 56 goals set by Erick Thomson in 2010. Curry finished the evening with three points on two goals and one assist for FSC.

Montclair State was led by Bellezza's game-high six points on three goals and three assists.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Mount Saint Vincent for their final regular season game on Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
