- Varone named Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #8 on Tuesday, April 18th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and conference statistics.

Women's Lacrosse Update (11-1, 4-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The FSC women's lacrosse team defeated Merchant Marine, 15-2, and improved to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in conference action.

Freshman midfielder Victoria Varone (Commack, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Varone finished the week with five goals and scored the eventual game-winner against Merchant Marine. She picked up four ground balls and had three draw controls in FSC's two games.

Senior midfielder Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Honor Roll after leading the team in points (9), draw controls (19) and ground balls (6).

This week Farmingdale State will play two conference road games: Friday at Maritime @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at Sage @ 5:00 p.m.

Baseball Update (17-12, 9-3 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a 3-1 mark last week with non-conference wins over Stevens (14-4) and Baruch (4-0, 6-5).

Senior's Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.) and Matt Seelinger (Westbury, N.Y.) were each named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. McCarthy batted .583 with a team-high 7 RBI's and hit the game-winning walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth in game two versus Baruch, while Seelinger tossed a complete game shutout, allowing three hits and striking out nine in the first game against Baruch.

FSC will play two Skyline road doubleheaders this week: Friday vs. Yeshiva (at Ridgefield Park, N.J.) @ 10:00 a.m. and Sunday at St. Joseph's-LI @ noon.

Men's Tennis Update (5-6, 1-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's tennis team split a pair of non-conference match last week with a 9-0 win at Brooklyn and an 8-1 home loss to Oneonta State.

Sophomore Zachary Baker (Carmel, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after going 2-0 in singles action, including a come-from-behind victory against Oneonta State in which he scored a 22-20 decision in the third-set super tiebreaker.

This week the Rams will play three matches: Tuesday vs. Sarah Lawrence @ 4:00 p.m., Thursday vs. Hunter (at Alley Pond, Queens) @ 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Mary @ noon.

Softball Update (14-14, 6-4 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State played four non-conference games last week and went 3-1 with the only loss coming in game one versus New Jersey City.

Sophomore's Sierra Cardenales (Patchogue, N.Y.) and Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) were both placed on the Player of the Week Honor Roll. Cardenales batted .556 with a team-best 6 RBI's, while Collard was 2-0 in two starts, including a complete game shutout in game two versus Baruch.

FSC will play three doubleheaders this week: Wednesday vs. NYU @ 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent (Time - TBA) and Sunday at Purchase @ noon.

Men's Lacrosse Update (10-4, 4-3 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team recorded an 18-6 victory over Maritime in their lone game last week.

Senior attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists against Maritime.

This week the Rams will close out the regular season with two Skyline road games: Wednesday at Montclair State @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 1:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team won the L.I. Intercollegiate Championship at Bellport Country Club last week as they finished 16-strokes ahead of runner-up Adelphi University.

Sophomore Joe Itzkowitz (St. James, N.Y.) finished in a tie for second place individually with career-best rounds of 75 and 76.

This week Farmingdale State will head to Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, N.Y. for the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore College on Saturday and Sunday.

Outdoor Track Update

The men's and women's outdoor track teams competed at the Stockton Osprey Open at Stockton College in Galloway, N.J. last week.

FSC was led by junior Jyaire Ewa (Stamford, Conn.) who won the Hammer with a throw of 179' 7" (54.75m), breaking his school record from last season.

The Rams will travel to Merchant Marine for the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational on Sunday.
