Rams Earn Senior Night Victory Over Maritime

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team earned an 18-6 Skyline victory over Maritime on senior night this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. FSC (10-4) improved to 4-3 in conference play, while the Privateers (4-8) fell to 2-5 in the Skyline.

Senior's Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.), Stephen White (Copiague, N.Y.), Patrick Cowcer (East Northport, N.Y.), Nick LeBright (Levittown, N.Y.), Matthew Christian (Patchogue, N.Y.) and Brendan Schade (Holbrook, N.Y.) were each honor prior to tonight's game.

Trailing 1-0 after a Maritime goal by freshman attack Danny Connell (Seaford, N.Y.), FSC junior midfielder Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) scored off the feed from Rifice to tie the game at 1-1 with 9:31 remaining in the first.

The Rams scored their second goal of the quarter after sophomore defender Dan Panzarino (Oceanside, N.Y.) caused a turnover which led to an unassisted goal by White to give Farmingdale State a 2-1 advantage.

With 3:04 remaining in the first, FSC freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal for his 50th of the season which put the Rams ahead, 3-1.

Over the first 3:25 of the second quarter, the Rams used goals from Rifice, White and Curry to extend the lead to 6-1. With 9:28 remaining, Rifice netted the pass from Curry and gave Farmingdale State a six-goal edge. FSC took a 9-1 lead after junior midfielder Jake Borresen (East Meadow, N.Y.) tallied back-to-back goals late in the second. Maritime scored their only goal of the quarter with 24 seconds left on a man-up opportunity by sophomore midfielder Ian Ziemski (Bel Air, Md.).

After the teams traded goals early in the third, Wieczorek and White added the final two of the quarter as Farmingdale State went on top, 12-3. In a high scoring fourth quarter, the Rams outscored the Privateers, 6-3, for the 18-6 victory. Farmingdale State forced 34 turnovers in the win.

Wieczorek recorded a game-high four goals and added one assist, while Curry had five points on three goals and two assists to go along with four ground balls. Rifice tallied a game-high seven points (two goals & five assists) and White finished the night with three goals and one assist. Freshman defender Justin Napolitano (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) had game-highs in both ground balls (9) and caused turnovers (3). Schade, in just under 54 minutes of action, stopped five shots for the Rams.

Maritime was led by Connell who scored a pair of goals.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Montclair State for a conference game on Wednesday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m.
