Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #6

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #6 on Monday, April 3rd, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and conference statistics.

Baseball Update (9-10, 6-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams played five games last week and posted a 3-2 mark. FSC swept Purchase in a Skyline DH on Saturday and split at Old Westbury on Sunday.

Senior Matt Seelinger (Westbury, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week honors. Seelinger was 1-0 after tossing 8.2 shutout innings over two appearances, allowing two hits and striking out 11. Against Purchase, he pitched 7.2 scoreless innings with two hits and seven strikeouts. Seelinger pitched one inning of relief versus Ramapo and struck out four batters. He held opposing hitters to a .074 average on the week and his .187 average against on the year ranks second in the conference.

Junior 2B/C Domenic Palumbo (Plainview, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after batting a team-best .529 last week. Palumbo recorded hits in 4-of-5 games in a 3-2 week for FSC. In game one versus Purchase, he went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored and followed by going 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI in game two. In the first game at Old Westbury, Palumbo was 3-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBI and run scored.

This week the baseball team will play: Thursday vs. Baruch (at MCU Park) @ 3:30 p.m., Friday vs. Lehman (7-inning DH) @ 2:00 p.m., Saturday vs. Mount Saint Vincent (DH) @ noon and Sunday vs St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (DH) @ noon.

Women's Lacrosse Update (8-0, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC carded three wins last week over St. Joseph's-LI (15-8), New Paltz (13-7) and Eastern Connecticut (7-5).

Freshman midfielder Victoria Varone (Commack, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Co-Rookie of the Week. Varone scored a team-high eight goals, including all three game-winners, to help keep the Rams undefeated. She finished the week with two hat tricks in the games versus St. Joe's and New Paltz, before adding two scores against Eastern Connecticut. Varone picked up at least five ground balls in each game (team-high of 18), while also recording eight draws and causing a team-high 10 turnovers..

Sophomore goalkeeper Tori Johnston (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Honor Roll after posting double-digit saves in every game (34 total), allowing only 6.67 goals against with a .630 save percentage. She stopped 10 shots versus St. Joe's, posted 13 saves at New Paltz and had 11 saves at Western Connecticut.

The women's lacrosse team will play two home games this week: Wednesday vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Purchase at 2:30 p.m.

Softball Update (9-9, 4-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The softball team swept Sarah Lawrence in their only games last week.

Senior first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. She batted a team-high .625 in a 2-0 week for FSC. In game one at Sarah Lawrence, she was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and went 3-for-5 with a run scored and game-high 4 RBI in game two.

This week the Rams will play two doubleheaders: Saturday vs. St. Joseph's-LI @ 1:00 p.m. and Sunday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ noon.

Men's Lacrosse Update (9-2, 3-1 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State was 1-1 on the week with a victory over Kean (20-5) and a loss to St. Joseph's-LI (14-11).

Senior midfielder Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after registering a team-high 10 points. He scored two goals and had a game-high four assists in the win over Kean and followed with two goals, two assists and three ground balls versus St. Joseph's-LI.

The men's lacrosse team will play two conference games this week: Wednesday at Stockton @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Merchant Marine @ noon.

Men's Tennis Update (3-3, 0-1 Skyline) - Full Report

In two games last week, the men's tennis team posted a 1-1 record. The Rams fell to Purchase (7-2) and rebounded with a 7-2 victory at Western Connecticut.

Farmingdale State will play four matches this week: Tuesday vs. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ 4:00 p.m., Friday vs. Baruch @ 4:00 p.m., Saturday at Merchant Marine @ noon and Sunday at Sage @ 1:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team finished in a tie for second out of 19 teams at the Rosemont Raven Invitational at Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown, Penn. this past weekend.

This week the Rams will head to Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, N.J. for the NYU Spring Invitational on April 8th & 9th.

Outdoor Track Update

The outdoor track teams opened the season at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational and the men placed 10th, while the women finished in 25th. The teams posted five top-10 finishes, highlighted by junior Idowu Bamisile (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who took second in the 400m hurdles in 55.94.

FSC will compete at the TCNJ Invitational in Ewing, N.J. on Saturday.
