Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team suffered their second loss of the season, as the Golden Eagles took a 14-11 victory in today's Skyline matchup. The Rams now stand at 9-2 overall, 3-1 in conference play, while St. Joe's improves to 4-4, 1-3.

Junior midfielder Jake Borresen (East Meadow, N.Y.) opened the scoring 1:19 after the opening faceoff for a quick 1-0 lead for Farmingdale State, but St. Joe's closed out the quarter with seven unanswered goals to hold a 7-1 advantage.

In the second, the Rams held SJC to just two goals while scoring four, including two by senior midfielder Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.), to cut the deficit to 9-5 at the halftime break.

Two scores early in the third pushed the Golden Eagles lead to 11-5, before the Rams got the offense going with five straight goals. Borresen scored his second of the game with three minutes to play in the third quarter, before freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) notched two unassisted goals to make it 11-8.

Borresen completed his hat trick on a man-up goal with 11:49 remaining in the fourth quarter, while freshman defender Justin Napolitano (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) put the Rams within one, 11-10, just 20 seconds later.

With 7:12 remaining in regulation, St. Joe's added goals by junior midfielder Jack Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) and freshman attack Chris Nielsen (Miller Place, N.Y.) to go ahead by three, 13-10, and hold on over the final five minutes for the 14-11 conference win.

For Farmingdale State, Borresen finished with a team-high five points (3g, 2a). Napolitano caused a game-high six turnovers.

St. Joe's was led by senior attack Josh Shaw (Bayport, N.Y.) with a team-high five points (3g, 2a), while freshman midfielder Declan Canevari (Lake Grove, N.Y.) picked up a game-high 12 ground balls as he won 21-of-28 faceoffs for the day.

The Rams will now travel to face Stockton College on Wednesday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m.
