Rifice Scores 100th Career Goal in Victory Over Kean

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) scored the opening goal of the game which was the 100th of his career as Farmingdale State earned a 20-5 Skyline Conference victory over Kean University this evening.

Rifice now has 103 goals and 153 points to date over his four-year career. He is currently ranked second all-time at Farmingdale State in goals scored and fourth in points.

After the Rams (9-1, 3-0) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, Kean (3-5, 1-2) answered with back-to-back scores to pull within one. With 7:23 remaining in the first, Rifice tallied an unassisted goal and 43 seconds later scored again to bring the FSC advantage back to three, 5-2. Farmingdale closed the quarter with scores by sophomore midfielder James Ragland (Seaford, N.Y.) and Rifice to go ahead, 7-2.

Leading 8-2, Ragland recorded a man-down goal off the pass from senior midfielder Nick LeBright (Levittown, N.Y.) to extend the advantage to seven. Senior midfielder Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) and freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) added second quarter scores to give Farmingdale State an 11-2 halftime lead.

The Rams outscored the Cougars 5-0 in the third quarter as they had three man-up goals. FSC led by as many as 17 late in the fourth en route to the 20-5 win.

Wieczorek scored a game-high five goals, while Rifice added four. Curry finished the night with a game-high six points on two goals and four assists and junior defender Nick Perrone (Northport, N.Y.) picked up eight ground balls. Freshman midfielder Anthony Sforza (Plainview, N.Y.) was 15-for-23 on face-offs and had three ground balls for the Rams.

Kean was led by freshman midfielder Cole Blackley's (Erma, N.J.) team-high three goals.

FSC next will play host to conference opponent St. Joseph's-LI on Saturday, April 1st at 1:00 p.m.
