Rams Roll Past Purchase in Skyline Matchup

Farmingdale State - 24, Purchase - 3


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team rolled past Purchase, 24-3, in a Skyline Conference game this afternoon in Purchase, N.Y.

Leading 3-1 midway through the first quarter, the Rams (8-1, 2-0) used back-to-back goals from senior midfielder Stephen White (Copiague, N.Y.) to extend the advantage to 5-1. After an unassisted score by freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.), senior midfielder Patrick Cowcer (East Northport, N.Y.) tallied the final goal of the quarter with six seconds remaining to give the Rams a 7-1 edge.

Within the first 4:55 of the second quarter, Farmingdale State junior midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) scored and senior attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) followed with a pair of goals to put the Rams on top, 10-1. FSC added six more goals in the second to take a 16-1 lead into halftime.

Farmingdale State outscored Purchase (0-3, 0-1) 8-2 in the second half en route to the 24-3 victory.

Wieczorek led all scorers with four goals, while Rifice had three goals and one assist. Desimone recorded three goals and White, freshman attack Trevor Church (Shirley, N.Y.), junior midfielder Jordan Simmons (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Nick LeBright (Levittown, N.Y.) all scored twice. Freshman defender Justin Napolitano (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) caused a game-high six turnovers in the win.

The Rams next will play host to Kean in a conference game on Wednesday, March 29th at 7:00 p.m.
