Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team posted a 23-3 victory today over SUNY Canton. The Rams improved to 5-1 overall with the win, while the Kangaroos dropped to 0-4.
Farmingdale State took a 10-1 lead into the halftime break, holding Canton to just six shots, before adding 13 more over the final two quarters en route to the win. The Rams had 17 players in scoring.
The FSC offense was led by freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.), senior attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman attack Trevor Church (Shirley, N.Y.) with three goals apiece. Freshman midfielder Zach Rudolph (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) recorded a goal and three assists. Freshman midfielder Anthony Sforza (Plainview, N.Y.) won 15-of-19 faceoffs and picked up a game-high eight ground balls. On the defensive end, junior Steven Diaz (Hicksville, N.Y.) caused four turnovers for the Rams while junior Nick Perrone (Northport, N.Y.) finished with four ground balls and one caused turnover.
Senior goalkeeper Brendan Schade (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded the win in net with four saves in his 37 minutes of play.
Canton's sophomore goalkeeper Kody Kocsis (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) made 14 saves in defeat.
The Rams will now open their conference schedule with a home game against Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m.
