Oneonta, N.Y. - Tied 3-3 after the first, Farmingdale State freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded all three second quarter goals as the men's lacrosse team went on for the 7-6 non-conference victory at Hartwick this afternoon.

The Rams improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Hawks dropped their first game of the season and are now 2-1 on the year.

Wieczorek scored the three goals on assists by sophomore attack Christian Ferruzza (Bethpage, N.Y.), freshman defenseman Justin Napolitano (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and senior attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) as FSC went into the break leading 6-3. The Rams held Hartwick to just one shot in the second quarter.

After a scoreless 10 minutes in the third, Hawks senior midfielder Jake Sachse (Lutherville, MD) scored off an assist from sophomore Chris VanDemark (Painted Post, N.Y.) to cut the Rams lead to just two, 6-4.

Napolitano answered with a goal just 1:50 later to extend the FSC advantage back to three, 7-4.

Sasche added another tally for Hartwick with 17 seconds left, and the Rams led by two, 7-5, heading into the fourth.

Still leading 7-5 with only 1:22 remaining in the contest, Hartwick cut their deficit to one when junior midfielder David Bianculli (Charlton, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season.

In the final 1:22 of the game, Rams' senior goalie Brendan Schade (Holbrook, N.Y.) made three crucial saves, including one in the final seconds, to secure the 7-6 non-conference, road victory for Farmingdale State.

Rifice and Napolitano recorded two points each in the win to go along with Wieczorek's three goals. Schade ended with 11 saves on the day.

Hartwick was led by Sasche who recorded two goals and an assist in the loss.

Farmingdale State will next play host to SUNY Canton on Tuesday, March 14th at 1:00 p.m. (weather permitting).
