#2 Stockton - 10, #3 Farmingdale State - 9
Galloway, N.J. - The third-seeded Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team traveled to #2 Stockton for the Skyline Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night and fell, 10-9.
Trailing 5-2 with 9:54 remaining in the second quarter, Farmingdale State's (12-5) Conor Pittard (Setauket, N.Y.) converted a man-up opportunity to cut the deficit to two. Less than two minutes later, Stockton (14-3) senior attack Vincent Manasia (Clark, N.J.) responded with a man-up goal to give the Ospreys a 6-3 halftime lead.
The Rams opened the third quarter with an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) to make it a two-goal game. Only 10 seconds later, a Kyle Carrick* (Bay Shore, N.Y.) unassisted goal pulled Farmingdale State to within one, 6-5. The Rams followed with a goal from junior midfielder Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) and a man-up score by Pittard to take a 7-6 lead with 10:45 left to play in the third.
After Stockton's Colin Shea (Rumson, N.J.) recorded a goal, FSC senior attack Brad Rapone (Roslyn, N.Y.) closed the third with an unassisted goal to give the Rams an 8-7 advantage heading into the fourth.
With 12:59 left in the fourth, junior attack Mike Caposella (Wayne, N.J.) recorded an unassisted goal to tie the game at 8-8. Manasia followed with a score off Mike Drumm's (Fairfield, N.J.) pass to regain the lead for the Osprey's, 9-8.
At the 10:13 mark, Curry tallied an unassisted goal to tie the game at 9-9. Stockton freshman midfielder Tommy Gallo (Clinton, N.J.) netted the game-winning goal with 4:43 remaining to lead Stockton to the 10-9 semifinal victory.
Curry finished the night with a game-high five points on three goals and two assists, while Pittard scored a pair of goals. Carrick and senior defender Matthew Brendel* (Hicksville, N.Y.) each picked up a team-high four ground balls for the Rams.
For Stockton, Manasia tallied three goals and freshman midfielder Tyler Bollard (Philadelphia, Penn.) went 17-for-22 on face-offs and picked up a game-high 12 ground balls.
The Ospreys now advance to the Skyline Finals where they will face #1 Montclair State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
