Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #9

- Bentz and Rosino named Players of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #9 on Monday, May 2nd, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Tennis Update (10-5, 5-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The Farmingdale State men's tennis team has earned the #3 seed for the upcoming Skyline Playoffs and will travel to #2 Mount Saint Mary for the semifinals on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Skyline Conference Finals will be held on either Saturday or Sunday (depending on advancing teams) at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Freshman Andy Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Bentz posted 2-0 records at both #1 singles and #1 doubles in a 2-0 week for FSC. Against John Jay, he recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win in singles and an 8-2 victory at doubles. In the match vs. St. Joseph's-LI, Bentz won 6-1, 6-3 at singles and earned an 8-0 doubles victory.

Senior Kevin Palacios (Glen Cove, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after an 8-0 decision at #1 doubles versus St. Joseph's-L.I. and wins at both #2 singles and doubles versus John Jay.

Women's Lacrosse Update (7-9, 6-1 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC clinched the #2 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Playoffs. The Rams will square off against third-seeded Purchase at home on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The Finals will be held on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors. She scored a game-high seven goals and added one assist, three ground balls, three draw controls and caused three turnovers in the win at Old Westbury. Rosino followed with a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists to go along with nine draw controls in the victory over Sage.

Baseball Update (18-14, 12-4 Skyline) - Full Report

The baseball team finished the regular season with a 12-4 conference record and earned the #1 seed for the upcoming Skyline Championship. The Rams will host the final four teams in the double-elimination portion of the Championship from May 6-8.

FSC will begin play on Friday at 2:00 p.m. against the winner of #5 Mount Saint Mary / #4 St. Joseph's-L.I.

Men's Lacrosse Update (12-4, 4-2 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State will enter the upcoming Skyline Conference Playoffs as the #3 seed. In the semifinals on Wednesday, the Rams will travel to #2 Stockton at 7:00 p.m. The Finals will be held on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Sophomore attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after recording team-highs in goals (5), assists (6) and points (11) in a 1-1 week. He scored once, had two assists and three ground balls against Montclair State and followed with four goals and four assists against Mount Saint Vincent.

Softball Update (15-18, 12-6 Skyline)

The FSC softball team entered the playoffs as the fifth-seed and suffered losses to Mount Saint Mary and Sage. The Rams ended the year with a 15-18 overall record.

Golf Update

The Rams closed out the year with a victory at the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at Bellport Country Club. Farmingdale State finished 25 strokes ahead of runner-up St. Joseph's.

Individually, senior Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) closed out his four-year career with a win on the second playoff hole after finishing with a two day total of 149 (78-71).

Outdoor Track Update

The men's and women's outdoor track teams next will compete at the NJAC Championship held at Stockton College on May 7th & 8th.
